
460 cases of liquor seized; two held
The district police seized 460 cases of illicit India made foreign liquor from a truck in Rajpura on Friday and arrested two people in this regard. The accused have been identified as Rajesh Kumar and Sandeep Kumar, both residents of Sherpura Kalan village in Bhiwani district of Haryana.
Superintendent of police Bhupinder Singh Khatra said acting on a tip-off, the police installed a special check-post on Rajpura-Chandigarh road. During checking of vehicles, the police seized 460 cases of liquor meant 'for sale in Chandigarh only' from a truck (RJ 10GA 1655) coming from the Chandigarh side.
The police said the accused had confessed that they were smuggling the liquor for sale in Rajasthan, Haryana and other parts of Punjab.
