Total five students from Ludhiana district will present their models at the national-level competition of the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Awards in New Delhi on October 6, 7 and 8.
These students-three students from government schools and two from CBSE affiliated schools-selected after competing in state-level competition will now represent their district in the national competition.
It is worth mentioning that total 35 students have been selected to represent Punjab in the national-level competition to be held in New Delhi.
These students are Rajdeep Singh, a student of Government High School, Ayali Kalan, who will present model on geometrical figures; Pavinder Singh of Kadiana Kalan will showcase model on mechanical mobile charger; Prem Pal Kaur of Government Middle School, Galib Run Singh, will present model on petroleum and diesel gas from plastic; Kanika of Amrit Indo Canadian Academy to present model on saving energy; and Ayush Khanna of Spring Dale Senior Secondary School to showcase model on solar roads.
Talking to HT, district science supervisor (DSS) Varinder Kaur said, “All students will first meet at the head office in Chandigarh from where, a bus will take them to New Delhi.”

{{/usCountry}}“It is a moment of proud for us as this year the number of participating students has increased from two to five. Ludhiana has the highest number of students than any other district of Punjab,” Kaur added.
Jaspal Singh, a mathematics teacher at Government High School, Ayali Kalan, said, “We have used simple cardboard and colourful pasting to prepare the model. The concepts of circles, triangles, quadrilaterals can be explained in a simple way through the model. I am confident he can win the award.”
INSPIRE AWARD
The objective of the award is to communicate the excitement of creative pursuit of science to students and attract their talent in mathematics and engineering as well. The INSPIRE Awards, organised for students of Classes 6 to 10, are a national programme to motivate students to study science.
