One of the recruits on the basis of anonymity said he is living under a piece of cloth, that the officials call a 'tent' during his training. Singh would become a constable after his training but at present his condition 'equals a migrant.'

Waterlogging, leaking roofs, humidity and unhealthy surroundings is a clear picture on the sorry state of affairs. The department has paltry arrangements in the four barracks for these 572 newly recruited personnel's.

Another rookie policemen rues, "During the day we engage ourselves in various tasks besides routine parade and training, but during the night the rookies fight it out under inhuman conditions and struggle to find spaces to sleep in the verandhas."

Sudden rain and mosquitoes spell havoc for the inmates residing in the area. The authorities seem to be ignorant of the conditions that the new recruits are undergoing. The trainees say that even if they complain to the authorities, they are threatened and told not to pay attention towards these 'minor issues.'

The 572 recruits have been provided only three toilets and bathrooms and have to wait in a long queue for their turn to use these basic amenities.

Police commissioner Ishwar Singh says that the department lacks proper infrastructure and they have made 'best arrangements' for these recruits. The local recruits have been asked to go back to their homes after 5pm and rest of the recruits stay in the barracks.
