District health department officials on Thursday conducted a raid at Alipur village near Nabha in Patiala district and seized around six quintals of synthetic milk allegedly laden with harmful chemicals.
Besides seizing the equipment and other machinery, the inspection team led by district health officer Dr Harish Malhotra also collected six samples of alleged adulterated milk.
Patiala civil surgeon Dr HS Bali informed that acting on a tip-off, the team raided the house of Gurdeep Singh and confiscated milk prepared from different chemical milk powders.
"The milk was being supplied to different places for the past several months, which posed a serious threat to the life of people," he said.
"We have sent the samples for further examination", he said.
"Besides containers filled with milk, the inspection team has seized different chemical packets, glucose, oil and synthetic milk powders which will be also sent to the laboratory," he said.
