63% kids immunised for polio in Gurdaspur district

Out of 1.93 lakh children of 0-5 year age group in Gurdaspur district, nearly 1.2 lakh were administered polio drops under the pulse polio drive on Sunday.

Out of 1.93 lakh children of 0-5 year age group in Gurdaspur district, nearly 1.2 lakh were administered polio drops under the pulse polio drive on Sunday.

Gurdaspur civil surgeon Dr Rajneesh Sood said here on Sunday that 1,254 teams were formed, in addition to 45 transit and 28 mobile teams, for the execution of the pulse polio drive in the district.

Dr Sood said he inaugurated the drive by administering polio drops to a child at a polio camp organised jointly by the health department and the Rotary Club at the civil hospital.

He said nearly 63% of children of the 0-5 years age group were administered polio drops at the polio camps at bus stands, railway stations, schools, temples, gurdwaras, etc.

He said the remaining children would be covered under the drive at their residences on Monday and Tuesday
