However, local police sounded red alert in the area, forcing the kidnappers to leave the boy in the nearby fields from where he was recovered by the police on Friday morning.

In his statement to the police, ex-serviceman Lakhwinder Singh said that on Thursday evening around 5.30, his seven-year-old grandson Ansh had gone to his uncle's house.

Around 6.30, when Ansh's mother Malkiat Kaur went to her brother-in-law's house to take her son back, she was told that Ansh had already left the house around half an hour ago after which, the entire family started searching for him.

Later, they lodged a missing complaint with the Ghuman police which sounded a red alert in the entire area.

On Friday morning, when a team of police was searching the sugarcane fields, they found the missing boy in an unconscious condition. He was rushed to the civil hospital for checkup and was later handed over to his parents.

The kidnappers kept moving with the boy from one village to another but when they did not get any safe passage, they abandoned the boy in the fields and fled.

The SHO further said the boy was in a state of shock and was not able to give any information about the kidnappers yet. Police had initially registered a case under Section 365 of the IPC against unidentified persons and was investigating the case.
