A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped near Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, in Shimla on Sunday.

The victim narrated the incident to her family on returning home. The family informed a local hotelier, Rajiv Pandit, who further sounded the police.

In their complaint, the victims’ parents, who are migrant labourers and live in temporary quarters near an under-construction building near old bus stand, said their daughter had gone to the toilet around 8am from where a man kidnapped her and took her to the jungle near Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, and raped her.

The victim led the cops to the crime scene that was cordoned off, and was later taken to Deendayal Upadhyay Regional Hospital, Shimla, for medical aid.

The victim’s mother said her daughter was traumatised and could not even recognise her parents.

Shimla additional superintendent of police (ASP) BD Negi, who visited the spot, said it was strange no one noticed the accused kidnapping the girl, which indicated that he was known to the victim, adding that the girl had been hospitalised and was out of danger.

A case under Sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping) and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act has been registered.
