An 8-year old patient suffering from renal hypoplasia (abnormally small kidney on the left side) underwent a laparoscopic surgery at DMCH.
Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh, professor of Urology and head of transplant department, said, “The patient complained of frequent episodes of severe headache. After detection of high blood pressure, he was put on medication. In some cases, the patient can be easily treated through a miniature surgery, which can give the patient a medicine-free and comfortable life with normal blood pressure.”
Dr Aulakh said, “The diseased kidney was removed through the surgery and the patient was discharged on third post-operative day.
