In a categorical refusal to be part a political grand alliance as proposed by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Capt Amarinder Singh, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur has said it would never have anything to do with the Congress.
“The AAP will have nothing to do with the Congress, the BJP or the SAD. Amarinder and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal may be in opposite camps, but they are in a secret alliance with each other. Both have only promoted their families and relatives. They have become rich, while Punjab has become poorer,” Chhotepur alleged.
On whether BJP leader and former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu would be joining AAP, Chottepur replied, “To date, Sidhu has not contacted our party leadership to discuss this issue. It is only the media that has been speculating,” he added.
On Amarinder’s claims that he would make the state drug-free within four weeks if elected to power, Chhotepu alleged that the leaders of the Congress as well as the SAD-BJP alliance had been promoting drug trade in the state. “Amarinder should not have taken oath on a gutka at the Bathinda rally. He would not be able to control drug addiction as his own party leaders are involved in the trade,” he added.
Rubbishing allegations that radical Sikh leaders had been joining the AAP, he claimed that his party had nothing to be religion and had even stayed away from the radical Sarbat Khalsa that had assembled recently.
