Flanked by Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, Payal candidate Gurpreet Singh Lapran and Ropar candidate Amarjit Singh, Bains acknowledged supporters from an open jeep.

As soon as the road show began, slogans of ‘Torenge har ik nu naal, Sirjange nava Sahnewal’ (Will take everyone along and make a new Sahnewal) reverberated across the Sirhind canal.

Party volunteers and nearby villagers started gathering at the venue at 9.30am even as they were asked to come at 10. Most of them were wearing stoles with pictures of AAP leaders printed on them.

Mann had instructed everyone beforehand that no traffic violation should take place during the roadshow.

“There should be no sloganchanting against any political party. Even if you pass in front of a leader from another party, no one should raise any slogan against the party,” he said.

He is also the state’s irrigation minister. This was Aam Aadmi Party’s second rally after senior leader HS Phoolka kicked off their poll campaign at Dakha constituency on Friday.
