Aides of the accused, Shehzad Anwar, Babbu and Vicky, on Friday intruded into her house in Dhandhari Khurd and assaulted her for lodging a police complaint. After having raised an alarm, the terrorised girl lost consciousness. It took Friday’s attack for the police to spring into action, following which Shehzad and Babbu were arrested.

The victim’s kin rued that had the police taken timely action and arrested the accused, the assault could have been avoided.

They rushed the teenager to the hospital, where the police recorded her statement. The victim told the police that she was alone at home, as her parents were away to work.

She alleged that two men intruded into her house from the roof and overpowered her. They then gagged her and assaulted her, while threatening her to withdraw her complaint of abduction against Shehzad, Babbu and Vicky, before fleeing the spot.

The accused had allegedly abducted her on October 25 and confined her in a room at an unidentified location. They released her three days later, following which she filed a complaint against the accused at Sahnewal police station on October 29. However, the police failed to arrest the accused.
