The Batala police on Friday arrested the second accused in the case of alleged abduction and rape of a minor girl at Dupai village in Sri Hargobindpur on the night of November 28.
Shri Hargobindpur police station SHO Sukhwinder Singh said 15 year-old Prabhjot Kaur (name changed) of Dupai village lodged a complaint on May 29 that she was abducted by Pardumana Singh and Ranjit Singh, both residents of Nangal Jhaur village when she had gone to attend nature's call.
They forcibly took her to another place where she was raped by Parduman while Ranjit kept a vigil.
After conducting the victim's medical examination, the police registered a case against both the accused under sections 376,363,342 and 506 of the IPC.
Parduman was arrested on December 3 while Ranjit, who was arrested on Friday, was absconding.
