Director Public Instructions (DPI), secondary, Balbir Singh Dhol has dismissed mathematics teacher Nina Sood of Government Senior Secondary School, Manupur, Ludhiana, for being absent since 2002.
The DGSE office had issued a public notice in August last year and gave the teacher 21 days to reply but since the teacher didn't turn up, the department dismissed her from services.
A release by the DGSE office stated that due to unauthorised absence by several teachers, the students were suffering as their studies were being affected.
This is not the first case, as earlier also several teachers have been being dismissed for their long absence without intimation.
Previous cases:
December 11, 2014: Vocational teacher Kamaldeep Singh of Government Senior Secondary School, Payal, Ludhiana, dismissed. He was absent since December 1, 2013.
December 17, 2014: Mathematics lecturer Minni Bala, posted at Government Senior Secondary School, Pamal, Ludhiana, dismissed for being absent since June 30, 2013.
February 6, 2015: Mathematics teacher Prem Pal Kaur, posted at Government High School, Ramgarh Bhullar, dismissed as she was absent since January 1, 1997.
March 12, 2015: Jaspal Kaur was terminated from services for being absent since November 19, 2013.
May 21, 2015: Absent since June 1, 2009, Parveen Singh, science teacher, Government Senior Secondary School, Manak Majra, dismissed. Harpreet Kaur, social studies teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Bija, was dismissed for her absence since December 10, 2008.
