The two national level kabaddi players Lakhvir Kaur and Rajwant Kaur, who were injured in a road accident near Jaitu town of the district on December 12 while returning from Badal village, have demanded government jobs, claiming that now they would not be able to play the game due to their injuries.

Two kabaddi coaches had died in the accident while four kabaddi players, including the two, were injured.

"With this accident, we have also lost our career. My leg was badly broken and, after operation, a rod had to be inserted in my leg and I do not think that I can play again as a normal player," says Rajwant Kaur, who was a student of BA part one in a Ferozepur college and a resident of Chabba village of the district.

"I have also got my leg badly injured and apprehend that I would not be able to play the game again," said 17-year-old Lakhvir Kaur from Laou Ka village in Ferozepur.
"Though the government has offered us free treatment, but we want government jobs as well," say the girls.

All the four are now admitted to the emergency ward of the Guru Gobind Singh medical college and hospital, Faridkot.

"They are still under treatment and anything about whether they can play the game or nor can be said only after their recovery and medical examination," said Dr JP Singh, medical superintendent of the hospital.
