The accused has been identified by police as Parminder Singh, 27, of Chhajawal village.

Parminder was arrested by sleuths of the CIA staff-2 when they were patrolling near Humbran Chowk.

The accused was coming from Mullanpur side and tried to evade the patrol, said inspector Gurbans Singh Bains, incharge of the CIA staff-2, but police chased him down and recovered a .32 bore pistol along with two bullets from his possession.

The inspector said the accused purportedly confessed to have procured the pistol from Uttar Pradesh. There were around five cases of thrashing, snatching and loot were registered against him at various police stations, said Bains.

A case under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against him at the Ladhowal police station.

Deol had purportedly confessed before police that some of his weapons were with his accomplices, following which police were looking out for his accomplices.

Meanwhile, Deol was lodged in the Ludhiana central Jail as an under trial prisoner.
