The Amritsar administration has started a token system for registries in the sub-registrar Amritsar-I and II offices in view of infrastructural constraints.
Deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal said that under the new system, aimed at making the procedure more convenient, sellers and buyers are to submit documents, complete in all respects, and obtain a token from counter no 1 in sub-registrar/tehsil offices.
The tokens will be distributed from 8 am till noon. The parties will be asked to sign at the back of the token. The token will mention serial number of the applicant, and the date and time on which the parties must be present before the sub-registrar for registration of document.
The maximum number of documents that can be registered in a day in the sub-registrar office is 200.
The DC said a special counter had been opened at the suvidha centre in Amritsar to issue tokens to NRIs, senior citizens and physically challenged persons. The tokens will be issued from 9 am till noon.
Twenty tokens per day will be reserved for these categories of applicants and they can get documents registered from 9 am to 9.30 am on the date specified in the token.
The DC said three copies of registries must be submitted at counter number 1 and incomplete documents would not be entertained. He said the parties must be present at counter no 2 in the office of the sub-registrar on the date and time allotted to them. After presenting themselves before the sub-registrar, they must go to counter no. 3 to sign the documents.

After signing the documents, applicants must move to counter no. 4 to deposit the fees and the registry will be delivered at counter no. 5 on the next working day after 2 pm. This will avoid crowding at the sub-registrar office, the DC added.
