Akali sarpanch shot dead by NRI brother in Ludhiana

An Akali sarpanch, Bhupinder Singh, was shot dead by his NRI brother over a property dispute in Ludhiana on Tuesday morning when he was waiting in his SUV for a gym to be opened.

An Akali sarpanch, Bhupinder Singh, was shot dead by his NRI brother over a property dispute in Ludhiana on Tuesday morning when he was waiting in his SUV for a gym to be opened.

Police said Bhupinder, 45, who was the sarpanch of Jhammat village in Ludhiana district, was shot five times at point-blank range by his younger brother Narinder Singh, who is a Canadian citizen, and his accomplice Soni Ghawaddi at 6am when he was waiting in his Innova.

The accused fled after committing the crime.

Bhupinder received bullet injuries in the head, chest and stomach.

The incident was captured by the CCTV camera installed outside the gym.

The gym owner along with others rushed Bhupinder to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where he was declared brought dead.

The police said a case had been registered against the two accused. They said the two brothers were embroiled in a property dispute.

Bhupinder had gone to the gym, ‘Enlightenment, The Fitness Centre’, at 5.45am. The gym used to open at 6am. He was waiting in the SUV when Narinder and Soni walked up to the Innova and shot him dead.Tennis (CHART).
