'Akalis running malicious campaign'

Accusing the Akalis of running a malicious campaign against him, Congress candidate from the Sangrur parliamentary seat Vijay Inder Singla on Sunday said that his development works spoke for themselves.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Singla stated that he had the confidence in the electorate who knew the capabilities of each candidate and the development projects he had brought. He do not need a certificate from his opponents.

Singla said SAD candidate was shying away from a meaningful debate on issues concerning Sangrur and had now started spreading rumours regarding the PGI cancer hospital being set up with an outlay of `449 crore at the erstwhile TB Hospital in Ghabdan village in Sangrur district.

Singla stated that the PGI Sangrur cancer project had already been passed by the union cabinet and the PGI, Chandigarh, which was the implementation agency had been communicated regarding the approvals in February and the hospital work would start soon.
