Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, Jaswinder said Sahil Gupta, a resident of Nakodar, had been living with her for the last two years. "He promised to marry me kept exploiting me. He even made me sign marriage papers but did not apply for registration," she alleged, adding, "when I used to enquire about the marriage certificate, he always changed the topic. When I took a tough stance, he started threatening me and later dumped me."

"Since August 1, 2012, I had been moving from pillar to post to get a case registered against him. My case was referred to the women's cell and the incharge there has been pressuring me to reach a compromise," she alleged.

"How can police officers act as mediators in such a case? As per my knowledge, Sahil has the backing of a minister and police are under pressure not to book him," she said.
