Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) candidate Peer Ghulam Fareed's victory from Gujrawnwala has been received with enthusiasm here in Dasuya, as he is the present Gaddi Nashin (head) of the Dargah of Baba Hazrat Khwaja Mohammed Dewan Shah Ji at Hardothala near here, an important pilgrimage place of the Muslims.
“Peer Ghulam Fareed is a childhood friend of my father late Prof Kanwaljit Sandal. He visits Dasuya twice a year and stays with us. I am so happy that he has won,” said Vikrant Sandal, a local resident.
“Soon after his victory he rang me up to share the good news with my family,” he claimed.
"He said he would visit the Dargah soon and try and bring Nawaz Sharif along.” Baba Dewan Shah lived and died in the village and was buried at the place where the Dargah existed.
Peer Ghulam Fareed is the grandson of his holy highness Barkat Ali Sahib “Sarkaaran”, the first disciple of Hazrat Khwaja Muhammad Dewan Shah Sahib of Hardothala. He visits this dargah very frequently and people view him as a native.
“He often says that though he does not live in Hardothala, his heart belongs here,” added Vikrant.

{{/usCountry}}"He is a peace messenger. He has always spoken of friendlier ties with India. We hope that relations between the two country would improve once Nawaz Sharif becomes Pakistan's Prime Minister,” said another local resident Sewa Singh,
“In a goodwill gesture, Peer Sahib named a 13-km road in his constituency in Pakistan after an Indian Sikh landlord, Pritam Singh Bhinder, who had to migrate from Pakistan after the partition,” said Ajmerpal Singh, another villager.
“The Punjab government should also respect his wish and name Hardothala-Dasuya road after Baba Dewan Shah Sahib,” he demanded.
“Peer Sahib wrote to the Indian government to accord recognition to the Dargah as a highly significant place and grant easy pilgrim visas to people from across the border but the visa restrictions exist,” he complained.
