Another swine flu case reported

A new case of swine flu was reported from a city hospital on Sunday. District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said the 62-year-old male patient from Gurdaspur was admitted at Oswal Hospital, Ludhiana. He said the report of the patient confirmed swine flu.

District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said the 62-year-old male patient from Gurdaspur was admitted at Oswal Hospital, Ludhiana. He said the report of the patient confirmed swine flu.

He said 65 cases of swine flu had been reported this year from various city hospitals. Of them 22 cases were from Ludhiana, while remaining were from other districts and states. A total of 15 persons have died due to swine flu this year. Of them seven were from Ludhiana.

Dr Verma said the common symptoms of swine flu were fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, difficulty in breathing, body aches, headache, fatigue, chills, diarrhoea, vomiting and blood in sputum.

*Cover your mouth and nose with a handkerchief or tissue when you cough or sneeze.
*Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand gel.
*Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
*Avoid crowded places
*Stay more than an arm's length from persons afflicted with flu
*Get plenty of sleep
*Drink plenty of water and eat nutritious food

*Don't shake hands or hug in greeting
*Don't spit in public
*Don't take medicines without consulting a physician
