Aptitude test to help ITI students choose right trade

With the department of technical education and industrial training introducing skill aptitude test for aspirants of skill-based courses to help them identify proper trade, industrial training institutes (ITIs) will conduct entrance tests and guide students to choose them the right course.

With the department of technical education and industrial training introducing skill aptitude test for aspirants of skill-based courses to help them identify proper trade, industrial training institutes (ITIs) will conduct entrance tests and guide students to choose them the right course.

The students will also be provided free counselling for selection of right trade.

The department is running courses in 49 trades (engineering and non-engineering) in 112 government and 264 private ITIs in the state.

"The counseling for first batch of students will be conducted in institutes from July 4 to July 10, from July 23 to July 30 for second batch and for third from August 9 to 13," Jagdish Singh, principal, Mehr Chand ITI, Jalandhar, said.

Admission would on merit basis as there are fixed number of seats in each college, he added.
Jagdish added that the test and counselling would help students in opting for proper trade and their intelligence quotient would also be checked.

The test will be conducted in 63 ITIs of the state.
