The family has claimed that doctors had declared Ashutosh dead, but the management of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) has been maintaining that Ashutosh is in samadhi (deep meditation) since January 28.

Ashutosh's son Jha told HT: "The CM has asked us to brief him on the issue after the intervention of few Janata Dal (United) leaders from our native place Lakhnaur village in Madhubani district. He has assured us that the matter will be taken up with Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, so that we can get the body and perform the last rites."

Jha added the family was on the way to Delhi to file a petition in the Supreme Court, but they got a call from the CM office for the meeting.

From Ashutosh's family, Delhi-based lawyer PS Singh would file a plea in the SC, probably on Friday.

Meanwhile, former driver of the dera head, Puran Singh, who is also with the family in Patna, has appealed to the DJJS followers to help Jha get the body.

The DJJS in Nurmahal has stopped issuing routine press statements.
