Senior superintendent of police (vigilance) Pritam Singh said the accused, Vipin Kumar, had been arrested on the complaint of local commission agent Pawan Kumar that Vipin had sought Rs 80,000 for settling the issue of registering his company with the market committee.

"We laid a trap at the place in Sangrur where the deal was to be finalised and caught the auction recorder accepting Rs 15,000 in the presence of government witnesses as first instalment of the money he had sought." said the SSP (vigilance). The accused is in police custody.
