The chief minister is on a thanksgiving tour of the constituency. "Only 5% work has been done in the city as compared to 70% in villages," Badal said and, turning to the local government director Priyank Bharti, he sought to know the reason in the slow execution of projects. Bharti told HT that he had asked the executive officer (EO) to look into the matter and report on it.

Meanwhile, executive officer Ashish Kumar stood up and said, "The work has been allotted to the contractors and assured the execution will be on fast track soon." But, later, he was transferred and EO Malerkotla Ravneet Singh was given the additional charge of Dhuri, confirmed SDM Dhiman.

Badal visited eleven wards in Dhuri city on his last day of thanksgiving three-day tour for electing Gobind Singh Longowal in the bypoll recently.

During the sangat darshan, interacting with locals, Badal asked them to shed petty demands and issues. He said his main concern was sanitation of urban areas and first priority was to provide a sewerage system and a sewerage treatment plant for Dhuri.

Speaking to the media on the Iraq issue, he said, "The union government has all the information. How any state can intervene in foreign affairs?"
