National Commission for Minorities (NCM) member Ajaib Singh has alleged that Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has failed to protect the rights of Sikh farmers in Kutch-Gujarat.
He said, "Badal is not serious about the Sikh farmers in Gujarat. If he was, he would not have given the title of "sardar"to chief minister Narendera Modi."
Ajaib added that, "If Badal had sympathy for Sikh farmers he would have pressed Modi to withdraw the case form the Supreme Court. That would have solved the issue immediately."
Ajaib, who was here to attend a function at MM Modi College on Friday,urged Badal to withdraw from the NDA as Modi, the perceptive candidate for PM for the coming parliamentary polls, 'would continue victimising Sikhs'.
He said as member of NCM, he has written a letter to the Gujarat government urging it to protect the interest of minorities.
In a separate letter written to Modi, Ajaib Singh has urged him to follow the example of the Haryana CM and promptly withdraw the Gujarat government's appeal in the apex court to save the farmers from eviction.
The high court of Gujarat had already ruled unanimously in favor of the Sikh farmers of Kutch but the Gujarat government has appealed against the verdict in the Supreme Court, Ajaib pointed out.
He also lambasted the Punjab government for not distributing scholarships meant for the minority community.

"I will seek a complete report from the state government in this regard,"he said.
Singh also sought the report of land grabbing of graveyard meant for the minority community at Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
