Badal lashes out at UPA's move to ban election surveys
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday lashed out at the Congress-led UPA for favouring the proposed move to ban election surveys. Badal said the Congress and its allies had been in favour of opinion polls and surveys when these were projecting a favourable scenario for the party, but when the outcome became adverse, the party leadership started cursing the same.

Badal said the Congress was desperate and knew that its days at the Centre were numbered. He said the SAD-BJP continued to be in favour of poll surveys as these gave an idea about the voters' mood.
He was replying to media queries before the state-level function on the occasion of Parkash Divas of Lord Vishwakarma, "divine architect of the universe", at Sri Guru Nanak Bhawan here.
He said people should oust the UPA government in the coming Lok Sabha elections as it had failed miserably on every front. He added that the country could never prosper until the corrupt Congress, which was solely responsible for inflation, was rooted out from the Centre.
He said the UPA had been ruining agriculture as well as industrial sectors of the state, adding that the anti-Punjab stance of the union government had virtually brought hard-working and resilient Punjabis on the verge of an economic disaster.

Bajwa case: action after detailed study, says Badal
Replying to a query about whether the state government would register a case against Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa for alleged irregularities in land deals, Badal said appropriate and necessary legal action would be taken only after a detailed study of the case. The CM said he had never believed in the politics of vendetta, despite being targeted during the Congress regime in the state.
