Urging chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to give a second thought to his proposed visit, Khaira said that if the CM shared stage with Kaur, it would amount to endorsing presence of criminals in politics.

"Attending a rally being organised by Bibi Jagir Kaur will be a blatant attempt by the CM to promote criminals in politics and send a negative signal among the masses," Khaira, who held a protest march here, told reporters.

Kahira said that as per Representation of Peoples Act 1951, Bibi Jagir Kaur may continue as MLA but she can't contest any election for six years from the date of conviction i.e. March 30, 2012.

"Our protest today is aimed at drawing the attention of the nation towards the degeneration of moral values in politics by the Akali Dal in Punjab. We demand that the CM should not share any public platform with a person convicted of criminal offences," Khaira added.
