Seven months after launching 'zero power cut' scheme on the lines of urban areas at Badhsa village of Jhajjar district, the villagers now have refused to pay the bills, terming them 'inflated'.

Notably, power distribution corporations wanted to make the 'zero power cut' scheme a success and Badhsa village was the first one where it was implemented by the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.

Of late, residents of Badhsa village have opened a front against the power corporation accusing it of issuing inflated bills. Notably, power discoms launched the scheme to abolish power theft and improve its income.

Village sarpanch Ranbir Singh said, "After the introduction of the scheme, the power bills of every household in the village have doubled.” Accepting the fact that it was village panchayat that passed the resolution to get the scheme introduced in their village, he said, "Now, we are getting round-the-clock power supply in the village, but, it seems, the meters installed at pillar boxes outside the houses are faulty, which needed to be rectified.”

Sources said that villagers were making a hue and cry in the hope of getting some rebate from the government.

Sarpanch Ranbir Singh said that they would meet Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda seeking 50% rebate in electricity bills on the ground that their village is free of power thefts.
