A suicide note is understood to have been recovered from the spot but the police are tightlipped about it.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Narinder Bhargav said nothing could be said with certainty till investigations were complete.

Deceased Amrik Singh, a resident of Daduwal, was a manager at the Dhadan Kalan cooperative bank. He had not returned home on Tuesday after work, nor had he responded to repeated phone calls from his family.

The SSP said a forensic team had been called from Chandigarh to assess the situation. "It is too early to say whether it is a murder or a suicide. We'll thoroughly investigate the case before reaching a conclusion," he added.
