With parliamentary polls approaching the SAD appears to be bent on taking full credit for implementing the state government’s development schemes in Bathinda and the district administration is working overtime to realize this.

This is reflected from the district administration working over time to prepare the cards to be distributed in the district under the ‘Atta-Dal’ scheme by SAD MP and party candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal in the coming days. Officials and employees of district food & civil supplies and other departments were seen preparing the cards late Monday evening in the district administrative complex here.

An official on duty said: “Obviously we’re running against the time to complete preparing these cards before the model code of conduct comes into force for the upcoming parliamentary polls. Hence our employees are working overtime to complete the task,” he said.
Harsimrat is scheduled to hand over the cards to the beneficiaries at eight places in Bathinda district on Tuesday.

A district administration official engaged in preparing the cards said due to such a large number of the cards it would not be possible they were handed over to each beneficiary by Harsimrat herself as was done earlier in distributing tubewell connections.

“We have therefore decided that the MP will hand over some of these cards at functions to be organised in the district from Tuesday onwards. The administration will ensure each beneficiary gets the card before the poll code of conduct is announced,” the official added. Harsimrat has distributed over 14,000 tubewell connections to farmers in Bathinda district alone in three days while inaugurating 27 projects in the district on Sunday.
