The event will be held under the aegis of Griffith University, Australia, and the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) for weeks.

For Gurindervir, it was like completing the dream of his father, a national-level volleyball player himself and a head constable posted at Tanda. The boy was picked during an event organised in association with KOOH Sports in a nationwide hunt for the fastest athletes in India in the under-14 category (100m race) held in Mumbai.

A Class-9 student at Guru Nanak Mission Public School, Dalla, Gurindervir, said, "I am very excited as I will be trained in track and field sessions, physical training sessions by world-renowned coach Sharon Hannan, the Australian athletic team coach at the London Olympics. I must thank my coach Sarwan Singh who groomed me to make it to international level."

Gurindervir has been selected in the top 10 of Speedstar Season-2 from among 25,000 athletes in the under-14 category. Sarwan Singh, a retired commando, is training 48 students of his school in sports.

Gurindervir is a gold medalist in the CBSE National Athletic Meet, Punjab State Open Games (U-14) and the All India Athletic Federation of India Championship.
