Adding fuel to fire, an online campaign has been started against Sharma regarding forged documents. On one hand party heavyweights have come forward in her support, on the other the campaign has now reached social networking sites such as Facebook.

Charanjit Singh Gill who is a social activist had filed an RTI to get Sharma's documents including passport, PAN card among others six months back. Thereafter it came to the light that the documents were forged and wrong information was provided by Sharma before the MC elections in June last year.

Gill submitted the documents to the police and after an inquiry of six months police had registered an FIR against Sharma and her husband recently.

However, the copy of forged documents is now being circulated on social networking sites and a large number of people are being tagged on the site to spread the information.

Thapar said apart from providing wrong information regarding her date of birth and father's name, the information that she was a graduate was also incorrect. “The affidavit that has been provided by Sharma that she was a graduate before MC elections last year is also incorrect,” claimed Thapar.

However, Sharma is getting complete support from her party senior including district president of BJP Praveen Bansal.

Bansal has said that it was a conspiracy of the police and Renu's opponents that case was registered against her. “We will not allow our councillor to suffer due to a conspiracy. The information on the documents is a clerical error,” said Bansal.
