Pathankot-Amritsar Ravi Express was halted immediately at Jhakholari railway station and railway engineering department, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), rail track caretakers and the Punjab Police from Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts swung into action. They searched the track minutely for the bomb, but nothing suspicious was detected, and the rumour turned out to be hoax.

A Pathankot-Amritsar DMU, however, had reached Pathankot minutes before the bomb rumour was spread in the region.
Ravi Express passengers remained stranded for about two hours at Jhakholari station and the train was allowed to move at 4.50pm.
When contacted, Pathankot senior superintendent of police (SSP) RK Bakshi told Hindustan Times that on receiving information about the bomb, police, along with other railway forces, conducted an extensive search on the rail track to ensure safety of the rail passengers and government property.
