'Bring more schools under project Udaan'

A delegation of teachers from Government High School, Banera, met director general of school education Kahan Singh Pannu on Sunday, urging him to introduce 'Udaan' scheme in other schools of the district.

To keep students of government schools up-to-date with the world around them, Sangrur district education department has started 'Udaan' as a pilot project in 10 government schools under which special classes on general knowledge are organised for the students during school hours.

Project incharge Devi Dyal said that they urged the DGSE to direct other school especially in rural areas to adopt the project for the benefit of the students.

"The project is aimed to ensure overall development of rural students and bring their general knowledge on a par with their urban counterparts," he said.

Under the project, students are taught ten questions of general knowledge on daily and then tests are conducted on a regular basis in the school, he said.
