Two cases of dengue were confirmed in the city on Wednesday. The two brothers, belonging to New Kailash Nagar, are undergoing treatment at Dayananda Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here.
With these two new cases total number of dengue cases reported from Ludhiana had reached to 12. Dr Anil Verma, district epidemiologist, said: “Of total 12 cases, seven belonged to Ludhiana and the remaining five have been reported from other districts of Punjab.” He said one case each was from Amritsar, Bathinda and Nawashahr and two cases were from Jalandhar.
Dr Verma said the health department had already been taking precautions to curb the larvae of mosquito by conducting inspections in various areas. Dr Verma advised people to wear full-sleeve clothes.
A dengue checking drive was conducted in Shimlapuri area on Wednesday where mosquito larvae were found in four coolers of various houses. He said the municipal corporation had been informed for the same to issue challans.
Dr Verma urged the people that they should change water of coolers and flower pots twice or thrice in a week so that aedes aegypti, larvae causing dengue should not grow.
