A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan committed suicide by shooting himself from his service revolver on Saturday night.

Jharkhand resident Anil Manjhi, 26, was serving with the 132 Battalion and was posted at the Madhopur headquarters. He had been temporarily deployed at the Tash Lassian border out post (BOP).

Though officials have not revealed the reason behind Manjhi taking the step, it is learnt that he was under depression since he had returned from his hometown after a month-long leave recently.
No suicide note was recovered. The body was brought to the Pathankot civil hospital for autopsy. Later, the body will be taken to Amritsar from where it will be sent to his native village.
