BSF recovers heroin, Pakistan phone from Mahwa border outpost

With the Pakistani smugglers adopting a new modus operandi, the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 2 kg heroin, magazine of a pistol and two Pakistani phones with three SIM cards from the area of Mahwa border outpost, falling under Amritsar sector of the Indo-Pak border.

AMRITSAR: With the Pakistani smugglers adopting a new modus operandi, the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 2 kg heroin, magazine of a pistol and two Pakistani phones with three SIM cards from the area of Mahwa border outpost, falling under Amritsar sector of the Indo-Pak border.

BSF spokesperson said the troops were on high alert as intelligence inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of Mahwa border out post. “As troops carried out a search operation on Tuesday ahead of the border security fence in the area, they recovered two packets (2 kg) of heroin, one pistol magazine, two Pakistan mobiles and three SIM cards. The consignment was hidden in two different bundles of paddy-grass in the middle of a water-filled paddy field,” said the spokesman.

Talking to HT, an official, said, “This is a new modus operandi and the Pakistani smugglers seem to have thrown the consignment into Indian territory after hiding it into the paddy-grass bundles. It seems that the Pakistani smugglers wanted that someone in India could pick this consignment for further delivery but alert BSF foiled their attempt.”
