A case against the building had been sub-judice for the past five years, following which the high court directed demolition of the parts of the building that had been built in violation of building bye-laws.

According to MC officials, a contract has been given to demolish the encroached area of the building.

Though the high court had given orders for demolition in February, the MC did not have the required infrastructure to carry out the demolition.
Sources said the high court had asked the MC to remove the encroached portion within five months of the orders.
