Despite several complaints, the civic body has failed to take steps to metal the muddy Kakka Road and an adjoining link road that leads to the municipal corporation’s main dump spread in over 45 acres.
Commuters as well as the vehicles of A2Z company, which lifts garbage from more than 250 localities of the city, pass through the same road, and are a harried lot due to the appalling condition of this link road.
Many commuters complain of their vehicles developing faults and their vehicles’ axles breaking due to the bumpy road.
Besides, the commuters to Kakka, Tibba and nearby villages also suffer as the road has not been repaired for the past over two years.
According to commuters, ever since the rainy season, the roads had given way and become muddy. Nearby villagers said two-wheelers generally met with mishaps on these broken roads due to imbalance.
An employee of A2Z said, “Usually faults occur in our vehicles, as the road leading to Kakka village is in bad shape and
has not been repaired for past many years. The link road from Kakka Road to the dump is worse than the Kakka Road. MC had installed bricks on this road that leads to dump around two years ago, but its condition has turned worse for want of metalling.”
Besides, the commercial vehicles also ply on these roads, as there are many factories in the area. A resident of Kakka village, Surinder Singh, said, “It is difficult to ride two-wheelers, as one loses balance on this broken road. I appeal to the government to pay attention towards repairing the road, as Kakka Road was damaged badly during the recent rains.”

{{/usCountry}}A2Z group vice-president BPS Chauhan said, “A road that leads to the dump from Kakka Road is in bad shape. Our employees have been complaining about faults in their vehicles due to pathetic condition of roads. I have written several complaints to the MC in this regard.”
MC executive engineer Parveen Singla said they were making estimate for the construction of the Kakka Road, but he did not comment on the construction of the link road leading to the dump from Kakka Road. MC superintending engineer Dharam Singh was not available for comment.
