Terming Narendra Modi, Parkash Singh Badal and labour minister Chunni Lal Bhagat as Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad, trade unions in the city will hold a rally on Sunday and will burn effigies of the ministers.

The office-bearers of the unions said that the government was not paying heed towards the need of labourers. The government has assigned a meager amount salary of `6,847, out of which they get only `3,000-`4,000, to the labourers.

“When the mayor and councillors get `50,000, a worker working in a factory deserves at least `15,000 as he works for the whole day and indulge in painstaking tasks,” general secretary of Centre of Trade union (CTU) comrade Harimuni Singh said.

Union convener comrade Rajesh Thapa said, “The Centre is hatching a conspiracy to demolish the Factory Act. Factory-owners should take attendance of their workers to keep it in the records, because in most of the cases, it happens that if a worker gets severely injured, the factory owner disowns him by saying that the worker does not belong to the industry.”

The members of the union demanded that the wages must be transferred directly in the accounts of the workers.

The general secretary said that there was no assistant labour commissioner in the city since last five years, who can listen to the problems related to payment, wages and compensation act.
