Despite an extended verbal duel and hurling scathing remarks at each other, BJP candidate Arun Jaitley and his Congress rival Capt Amarinder Singh greeted each other with a handshake during their morning walk at Ram Bagh Gardens on Sunday morning.

Jaitley, who was sporting T-shirt and lower, was the first to enter Ram Bagh Gardens in a T-shirt and lower at 7.30am along with his fellow party men and supporters for a walk.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Jaitley said: "This is not a political walk. I go for walk every morning when I am in Delhi. Some people who accompany me for the walk in Delhi are here in the city, so we decided for the outing. As far as political walk is concerned, it is going on for past several months."

Is Capt Amarinder Singh right in saying that the ruling SAD-BJP is "patronising" narcotics trade in Punjab?

Amarinder too ruled out that the morning walk was to woo the voters, saying, "I am just here for a walk. Just came here to meet people and nothing to do with politics."

On being asked that his opponents say that Amarinder wakes up at 12 noon, so how come he is here so early, the Congress leader replied, "I wake up at 1.30pm."

Amarinder opts for tea at Giani tea stall
After visit to Ram Bagh Gardens, Congress candidate Amarinder Singh surprised many residents by taking a sip of tea at popular Giani tea stall.

Not only he enjoyed the tea, but also interacted with customers sitting there. Besides the tea without sugar, Amarinder also relished the famous 'Kachoris' during the visit.
