The injured, identified as Gurpal Singh and Goldy, were rushed to the Government Rajindra Hospital, where they were said to be in a critical condition. All five were residents of Patiala.

Samana station house officer (SHO) Davinder Singh said preliminary investigations revealed the car was over speeding and lost control, smashing into the railing.

"It appears the youth failed to notice the railing at a curve near the Bhakra mainline bridge and rammed into it," said the police.
Describing the severity of the accident, police said the car somersaulted several times before hitting the ground 80 metres away from site of the accident.

The police also said two of them were killed on the spot, while Nihal succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.

The bodies were been handed over to their families after post-mortem.
