Cast votes, cops tells people through loudspeakers

After taking to loudspeakers to trumpet traffic rules, the local police have also found them an answer to encourage commuters to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha elections.

The audio clips, in both male and female voices, in form of jingles, have been playing on all major crossroads of the city to persuade people to cast votes. They also give tips to people about general security and social responsibility.

The recording is also educating people about the importance of their votes and to not accept gift or cash from any contestants or their supporters for casting votes in their favour.

Earlier, the police had opted for the technique to make commuters aware about traffic rules. Replicating the experiment, the police prepared new audio clips and are playing them in areas, such as Jagraon Bridge, Bharat Nagar Chowk, Bhai Bala Chowk, outside interstate bus terminal and Millar Gunj Chowk.

"The experiment of making people aware about traffic rules using audio clips has been working. Following the same method, the police have prepared the new clips to encourage people to vote and fulfil their duty as citizens," said inspector Vinod Kumar, incharge traffic wing.

Besides, the clips also comprise tips on steps to take while going away from the house for one or more days, and encourage people to help victims of road mishaps.
