Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against five railways officials, including station superintendent, Ludhiana, RK Sharma, in connection with the two-year old Rs 6.09 crore advertisement scam.
CBI team questioned the five railway officials and employees, including then divisional commercial manager (DCM) Puran Chand Doodi, commercial inspector (CMI) Arvind Sharma, head clerk Naresh Sharma, clerk Mohammad Yakoob and station superintendent, Ludhiana, RK Sharma in connection with the scam probe.
The team questioned the railways employees at its headquarters in Chandigarh on Monday and also raided their homes to get important documents.
"I had been questioned in the scam and I have made my stand clear. I have no role in the case," said RK Sharma. Sharma said, "The drafts deposited in the Ferozepur division by the firm who was allowed the advertisement at the Ludhiana station were fake. Thus, this is the fault of the firm only."
The scam is related to the allotment of land/space for commercial advertisement contract given to firms in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Srinagar, Ludhiana Railway Bridge, Amritsar-Ambala passenger train, DMU Kashmir Valley and Jan Shatabdi express nearly two years back.
