Talking to mediapersons before paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, Rajnath said, "We have seen in the past several years that the union government has failed on the security issue. Leave aside external security, even internal security is in disarray."

"It is very important to have a comprehensive mechanism to fight anti-social elements and have a secure environment, but we feel that this government has no plan to fight such terror strikes, he added.

"Such blasts or attacks have become very regular and indicate how this government has come a cropper on the security front. The country is facing a crisis today," Rajnath said.

The BJP chief, who was here to address workers during the two-day executive meet, said, "The security agencies have no coordination. There is a need to work on this matter."

On LK Advani, the BJP president said he (Advani) was a very senior leader and a guide to them, adding that there was no rift in the party. On a question regarding the prime ministerial candidate, Rajnath said, "It is still too early to comment on that. The announcement will be made at the apt time and through consensus among the NDA members."
