With chances of screening of movie "MSG-2: The Messenger", starring head of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh aka 'Rockstar Baba', in Punjab bleak, the dera followers seem to have swallowed the bitter pill and come to terms after resorting to aggressive protests. No voice of protest was heard on Tuesday as the movie failed to hit theatres on Tuesday.
The screening of the movie, as was promised by senior superintendent of police (SSP), Bathinda, Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti in an address to dera followers before they lifted the blockade of rail tracks on Sunday night, couldn't be started in any of theatres here on Tuesday and there were no signs of the administration taking steps in this direction. Bhatti said that they had not yet held talks with theatre owners on this issue.
Moreover, the Dera followers, who were leading the protest against the non-screening of the movie in Punjab despite there being no ban by the Punjab government on its screening, also seem to have come to terms.
A member of the Dera's state committee in Punjab Gurdev Singh said they didn't have any talks with the SSP on this issue on Tuesday and said he would be in a position to talk on this matter on Wednesday only as they would be chalking out the strategy soon.
Importantly, the Dera followers had resorted to aggressive protests by blocking rail tracks and roads across the Malwa region alleging that the Punjab government was playing a dual game as it didn't ban the movie in Punjab pretending that it wants the movie to be screened in the state while, on the other hand, the district administrations across the state were directed to ensure that the movie is not screened in any theatre.
The protests had thrown the rail traffic out of gear in the region for over 35 hours resulting in the cancellation of many trains and diversion of routes of many others.
The protesters had lifted the blockade on Sunday night claiming that the state government had assured them that steps would be taken for screening the movie in Punjab in one or two days.
