Police said the victim, identified as Karan Singh Pehalwan, was hit by two bullets and was rushed to GMCH-Sector 32. He was referred to PGIMER as he was in a critical condition.
Karan resides in Sector 46 and owns a shop in Burail. He hails from Kurukshetra.
Police said that the assailants fired three gunshots at the victim.
One bullet each hit the victim’s right arm and a leg.
Sources said the attackers, who were aged between 16 and 18, also hit the victim’s face with a rod, following which his jaw was broken.
The victim tried to escape but was chased by the miscreants. After the first gunshot, the victim entered a tailor’s shop in the market where the assailants followed him and fired at him again.
Tailor Mahavir said he also hid inside the shop when the miscreants entered his shop. The accused fled the spot, leaving the victim bleeding.
Police sources said spent bullet shells of .12 bore and .38 bore guns and a bullet were recovered from the spot.
Senior police officials, including SSP Eish Singhal, SSP (traffic) Ravi Kumar and DSP (crime) Pawan Kumar reached the spot.
A team of forensic experts also inspected the spot about 11.15pm.
A case was registered at Sector 34 police station.
