Chandigarh to get more showers this week

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in this period.

With the city receiving 20.2mm of rain, and the airport 16.8mm of rain on Sunday early morning, and the day going by with the monsoon clouds visible over the horizon, the officials at the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, said more rain is expected in the coming week.

“The effects of the clouds will be visible on Monday itself. A system has been detected passing over the city which will bring more rain,” officials said, adding that the effects will stay at least till the next weekend.

According to IMD, the coverage of rainfall in adjoining stations at Punjab and Haryana will go from isolated (0-25%) and few (26-50%) stations to many (51-75%) stations between Monday and Tuesday, where it will remain at least till Thursday.

“Light to moderate rainfall (2.5mm to 35.5mm) is expected in this period,” the officials said.

A small increase in maximum temperature was seen on Sunday at 33.5°C as compared to 32.7°C on Saturday. Minimum temperature stayed at 27.5°C on Sunday as against 27°C on Saturday. Humidity stayed between 67% and 95%.
