Panchkula: Two arrested for bouncer Meet’s murder

Police claimed to have arrested two shooters – Amandeep Singh Mani and Harjinder Singh Ladi in connection with bouncer Amit Sharma alias Meet’s murder case on Thursday.

Police claimed to have arrested two shooters – Amandeep Singh Mani and Harjinder Singh Ladi in connection with bouncer Amit Sharma alias Meet’s murder case on Thursday. DCP Ashok Kumar told HT that the joint team of crime branch and Mansa Devi police station arrested the accused from Chandimandir.

The SAS Nagar Police had claimed that the two accused had shot Meet in Panchkula’s Saketri area last Monday at the behest of Meet’s old rival Gagandeep Singh.

The murder plot was hatched from inside the Nabha jail, where Gagan was had been lodged in connection with an Arms Act case. This was revealed after SAS Nagar police got Gagandeep’s custody two days after Meet’s murder.

On Monday last week, the Panchkula police got his remand after which he was produced on production warrant from Nabha jail. The DCP claimed that the arrests were a major shot in the arm in the ongoing murder probe.

“The police will seek their remand after they are produced in a local court on Friday," he said

Mani and Ladi had been involved in petty crimes earlier and it is for the first time that their names have figured in a murder case. A Zirakpur police official said Mani had been worked as an informer, after he had been acquitted.

He had gone into hiding after his name cropped up in Amit’s murder case. Ladi worked as an electrician before he got involved in petty crime, His family is said to have disowned him.
